The Internet if full of ways to phrase your invitations, so find the format that suits your situation and don't stress yourselves out over it. I have heard horror stories about Internet invitations being printed wrong, so if you decide to go this route make sure you do your homework on the company. I'd also suggest getting them done early so any mistakes can be fixed without causing you too much worry. Programs are fun and informative, and you can use them to entertain your guests during the inevitable waiting periods. A brief description of how you met each of your attendants is one way to do so. Adding a few fun factoids about yourselves is another option. Make sure you add a map and directions to the reception site as well, instead of expecting people to remember it from their invitations. Outdoor ceremonies, or those in an non-air conditioned venue, deserve programs in the form of fans - a fantastic idea if I do say so myself! Consider ordering them on plasticore, or make them yourselves with tongue depressors & heavy cardstock, but be certain that you use the proper glue. Yes, this warning comes from another story I heard about home-made fans coming apart in summer heat.
