glasses, cake serving sets, groomsmen gifts, etc. are a regular part of
many weddings.
One of the neatest things
I've seen is a high quality cake serving set engraved multiple times.
It was first used for the bride's parents' wedding, then her sister's
wedding, then the parents' 25th anniversary, then the current couple's
wedding. Now THAT is a keepsake. How many cake sets does one
family need? Just one, with a lot of memories attached to it.
